In an interview with Gallery Viewer, I share the story behind my work and the inspiration for my exhibition Geduld van het landschap (The Patience of the Landscape) at Ballon Rouge in Rotterdam.

During my journey through the Rocky Mountains, I came face to face with a family of grizzly bears while walking through a glacial landscape. It was an encounter in which wonder, fear and relief followed one another in rapid succession. In my exhibition Geduld van het landschap at Ballon Rouge, I explore how to capture the overwhelming beauty and unpredictability of nature. Through analogue photographic processes such as cyanotypes, chemigrams and collages, I give form to images and memories that feel familiar, yet exist only in our imagination.

Geduld van het landschap is on view at Ballon Rouge in Rotterdam until 7 November 2026. I am present at the gallery every Saturday.
